Nebraska -

Nebraska's State Department of Education developed a three year long teacher apprentice program with a provisional certificate. All new teachers were required to participate. The program also mandated observations and evaluations every semester for those three years. The beginning teacher program and requirements, however, were repealed (before 1992) due to a lack of state funding.

In 1998 Nebraska has no state-mandated induction or mentoring program. Many mentoring programs do exist around the state however, but these are strictly voluntary programs with local district funding.
