Who is Barry Sweeny?? The featured conference presenter is Barry Sweeny, one of the most knowledgeable and helpful mentoring and induction experts in the USA. He is known as the "Mentor of Mentors", especially for his work in support of mentoring program coordinators and induction programs. Most recently, Barry was the consultant and author of "Mentoring to Improve Schools", a 2 video set and Facilitator's Guide, just published in April 1999 by ASCD. He has also authored
over 110 papers and articles on induction, served on both national and state induction commissions, and has trained thousands of mentors and helped to develop hundreds of induction programs since 1987.

DAY ONE - June 18, 8:00 AM to 12 Noon - Part 1 - Developing a High Impact Induction Program, by Barry Sweeny.

Barry will share from his 12 years of experience as a mentor trainer, program coordinator, author, and mentoring consultant working nation-wide with all kinds of organizations. Whether you have an existing program or are developing a new program, this work shop will amaze you with terrific practical strategies to increase your program's power and impact. The institute will address:

12:00 to 12:45 PM - Lunch

12:45 to 1:30 PM - Keynote by Barry Sweeny - Sustaining An Effective Induction Program, including finding resources, time, building support with decision makers, and sustaining mentor growth and enthusiasm.

1:45 to 4 PM - Part 2 of Developing a High Impact Induction Program, by Barry Sweeny.

4:00 to 6:00 PM - OPTIONAL & FREE- Private Consultation Appointments. Conference attendees may register separately for 30 minute appointments with Barry Sweeny to discuss and get advice on your specific program and needs. What do you need to overcome to make your program more powerful? What are the challenges for which you need effective strategies?

Barry has worked nation-wide with all kinds of organizations and supported development of mentoring programs and mentors in hundreds of school districts, businesses and agencies. He has personally led dozens of mentoring trainings for hundreds of mentors. Join us for this training of trainers workshop to learn Barry's most powerful strategies for preparing mentors for high impact mentoring and success.
