Telementoring is a critical strategy for mentoring and for providing
support to mentors themselves. However, numerous research studies,
including one I was a part of in Texas for the Federal Government,
have shown that alone telementoring is very inadequate support.
It just doesn't happen as well, nor as often as it needs to. Still,
telementoring is a crucial element in the mentor's bag of strategies
which allows for nonsyncronous, whenever you can mentoring to occur.
As such, it may make the difference between a novice teacher succeeding
and failure.

utilize this approach as a part of your total mentor and protege
