As an expert staff developer known
world wide, I may receive as many as 10-15 requests for help and advice
each day. Such a volume of requests means that I must maximize my
time and be careful to work efficiently. To do so, I have developed
a strategy for giving free advice. Please review this strategy and
you can determine in advance whether and how I might be able to help
you.
1. I am motivated to help as many people as much as I can.
- However, I do not individually answer requests
about questions I have already answered in a publication
or on my web site. I simply will refer you to that existing source.
- When I get a request that I have NOT previously
written about, I may answer that request by writing a paper on
that topic, sending a copy to the person asking for help.
- Then, I also make that same paper available to
everyone either as a publication or for free on my web site.
So, BEFORE you send me a request for free help...
2. Check my Publications
List, order, and read the papers that I have written
to capture my experience and advice.

articles available on this web site.
4. If you do not find written advice on your
question, contact me by E-MAIL
for limited free advice
- 5. Phone me AFTER you have FIRST checked
and read the relevant written materials. My home office is 630-668-2605.
- If you are an educator, I will gladly help you
for FREE for about 30 MINUTES. If the help you seek requires more
in-depth consultation, that costs $1 per minute after the free
30 minutes have expired. For many people, this is still the most
cost-effective way to get expert consulting, as it requires no
expenses be paid for travel to your site.
